Susanne Kriemann catalogue

was published on the occasion of Gasag Art Prize 2010 by Berlinische Galerie and Kerber and was designed by Robert Beckand

Susanne Kriemann organises her research-oriented projects as artists’ books and subtle installations, which she rearranges and reinterprets for each exhibition. She combines her own photos with historical text and visual material that she finds in archives in Germany and abroad. Working on a layer-by-layer basis, like an archaeologist, she reveals a dense network of hidden connections. In addition to examining buildings as manifestations of ideologies, a key theme of her work is the way in which photographic images determine our historical consciousness. The Berlinische Galerie is hosting a solo exhibition of her work following her success as the 2010 winner of the GASAG Art Prize. This catalogue documents, for the first time ever, all of the material that she has compiled over several years for her three most frequently exhibited works: “One Time One Million”, “12 650 000” and “Ashes and broken brickwork of a logical theory”.
